Let’s Get Digital

The CELT Let’s Get Digital Roadshow is an opportunity to find out about all kinds of good practice examples, research, tools, and ideas related to technology for enhancing learning and teaching.

Each event will provide a variety of short presentations on different ideas or practices in technology enhanced learning and teaching. At the same time there will be tables where you can learn about projects, technologies and support happening at USW.

Let’s Get Digital will be coming to each campus during the fortnight of the 19th-30th June

What’s coming up for Summer 2017?

This term we will be continuing our programme of weekly drop-in sessions on ALL campuses to help staff find out more about making best use of tools available within UniLearn.

Our workshop programme will focus on Online Assessment and Feedback, and we will continue to offer bespoke sessions for groups of staff on request. (To ask for a bespoke workshop, please send a 'service request’ via the IT Customer Support System.

Technology Enhanced Learning will also be a theme running through the CELT Seminar series.


Drop-in sessions

Do you just need a five-minute refresher on how to set up an assignment using Turnitin? Or have you forgotten how to add a video to your module? Our weekly drop-in sessions will run on all campuses over the next few months… look out for the banner!

Awareness sessions for the new and improved Turnitin

Please come along to one of our 45 minute sessions to find out about the benefits that will be on offer from September 2017, including:

  • Access to all the usual tools, from creating assignments to marking and grading directly from the assessment page of your module.
  • The ability to create multi-part assignments. This means that students can submit more than one file for an assignment and at different points in time.
  • A cleaner interface when grading giving you a clearer view of a student’s work – You can view a demo and have a practice of using Feedback Studio.

Our UniLearn workshops are presented by the technology-enhanced learning teams of CELT and IT Services.

Bespoke Workshops | Course Summary

Target audience: Staff teams requiring specific training.

We are able to offer bespoke workshops for teams on request on all campuses. Examples of sessions that we have run include, Panopto, Using Social Media, Audience Response Tools, Blackboard Refresher. If you think your team might benefit from a bespoke session, please send a 'service request’ via the IT Customer Support System or come along to one of our Drop-in sessions to discuss your needs.

Online Assessment and Feedback Basics Workshop | Course Summary

The University’s Assessment for Learning Policy requires all assignments to be submitted and feedback provided online unless agreed by exception. The University provides tools that can help you create all kinds of assignments. This UniLearn workshop covers the fundamentals of the two main tools that are used to provide online assignments, to check for plagiarism, and to mark online. In doing this, it introduces you to the University’s policies relating to Assessment and the guidelines on how to apply the policy in practice.

Target audience: staff who are familiar with using Blackboard

You should have a basic understanding of Blackboard – see the TEACH Blackboard pages.
