For videos and audio content that do not have a specific tool to add them (e.g you can use the Mashup Tool in Blackboard to add YouTube and eStream content), you can still add them so that they will appear and be playable within your Blackboard course so students don’t have to leave your page. To do this you will be using iframes which are done through the html code.
Most video sites will have a sharing button/link that will provide you with the embed code. So the first job is find the Embed or Share feature.
On BoB there is an embed button under every video:
On Vimeo there’s a share button:
Soundcloud also has a share button:
When clicked, these will usually bring up a box with some options. Make sure to select the Embed option. Copy the code that is generated.
Once you have copied the code, return to Blackboard where you will need to either add a new Item or edit an existing one:
Click the html button in the editor box:
You will then get a small pop-up window with a little bit of code in. If you started a new Item there will be almost no code (or none at all):
Place your cursor a line or two below any existing code and then paste the embed code you copied from the video site:
Sometimes there will be more code than other times. It depends how the video site has arranged it:
Click the update button:
You will then either see a yellow box in your editor or you may see nothing at all (the way that BoB embeds videos always shows nothing). You can double check that the embed code is definitely there at any time by clicking the html button again:
Save your item and you will then see the video/audio player on your Blackboard page:
If you cannot see your video you may need to turn off edit mode before it is visible. If you still cannot see it you will need to check your embed code.
