Blackboard Journals


Journals are a personal space for students to reflect and to communicate privately with tutors. Only the individual student and tutor(s) can see and comment on journal entries, they aren’t shared with the rest of the students on the module unless you choose to make them public. They can be used as a space for reflection or as summative or formative assignments that can be graded. You can also create instructor-directed journal entries that are more formal in nature and that narrow the focus by listing topics for discussion.


Set up journals

Step 1
Select Communication and Tools from the navigation menu.

Step 2
Select Journals from the list of tools.
